Birds of Prey Centre
Continuing Elsamere’s legacy of rescue, care, and conservation education.
Birds of Prey CentreContinuing Elsamere’s legacy of rescue, care, and conservation education.
Following the tragic passing of Sarah Higgins, founder of the Naivasha Owl Sanctuary, Elsamere stepped in to re-home her birds under licence from the Kenya Wildlife Service, who continue to monitor their health and wellbeing.
Over time, several of the birds have passed away from natural causes, giving us the opportunity to redevelop the Birds of Prey Centre before welcoming new rescues.
Although the centre is a relatively new initiative, it continues a legacy deeply rooted in Elsamere’s history. Joy Adamson herself cared for injured Verreaux’s owls during her years here.
Today, the centre ensures that birds remain at the heart of our mission — educating visitors and local communities on the importance of protecting these magnificent creatures.
We provide a safe home for injured and non-releasable birds.
Visitors learn about raptor species and conservation challenges
We’re expanding the centre to support future conservation work.
